Four meetings on the docket for racing on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Meetings from Kyneton in Victoria, Kilcoy in Queensland and both Newcastle and Queanbeyan in New South Wales.

  • CARLTON DRAUGHT 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (Race 1)
  • A-PLUS CONTRACTING & POLY WELDING MIDWAY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (Race 5)
  • LADBROKE FORM GENIUS CLASS 3 HANDICAP (Race 5)

CARLTON DRAUGHT 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (Race 1)

Kyneton Best Bet Race 1 No. 9 Brazen Diva

The three-year-old daughter of Brazen Beau, Brazen Diva started a long price on debut at Mornington and although beaten 3L in a six-horse field, it was a sensational effort as she beat all bar Tonkin and Sirena, who have both been subsequent Metro winners.

She went to Werribee last start, sat up on-speed and kicked on well, just finding one better but ran a time that was nearly 10-lengths faster than the maiden average. Craig Williams was on at Werribee and is on again here, going up to Kyneton for only the one ride.

Greg Eurell and Craig Williams have a sensational record when they combine, with 26 winners from 104 runners (25% winning strike rate) and a 23.3% positive Profit on Turnover since 2014.

A-PLUS CONTRACTING & POLY WELDING MIDWAY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (Race 5)

Newcastle Best Bet Race 5. No. 3 Zounaka

The three-year-old daughter of Zousain, Zounaka is in really good form this preparation following on from bumping into some handy horses, including the star Waller filly Aeliana.

Zounaka won first-up at Kembla Grange in fast time and followed that up with a strong second behind Cryptonic in fast time (6.6L faster than class average).

She ran another great race last start, sitting in a good spot (one out and one back) however the winner had a better run, leading off a slow tempo and outsprinted Zounaka. The filly gets in very well here, on the minimum weight after the claim and should slide across from the wide gate.

LADBROKE FORM GENIUS CLASS 3 HANDICAP (Race 5)

Kilcoy Best Bet Race 5 No. 4 Grand Crusader

Grand Crusader has run very good races in much stronger races than the one the six-year-old gelding faces today but his form has undoubtedly tapered off since relocating from team Hawkes to Queensland.

He did run well in fast time two back at Beaudesert then was well supported last start at the Gold Coast, the run was much better than it looked, as he was made to work hard early from the wide draw and ran to the 600m 6.6L faster than the class average. He stuck on well enough in a swoopers dominated race and should get a much better set-up here today.
